REURASIA and MARTIN Technologies Private Limited have agreed to work together on waste-to-energy projects in the Philippines.

REURASIA Management Corporation and MARTIN Technologies Private Limited have agreed to work together on waste-to-energy projects in the Philippines. MARTIN gave the reason plainly in its own announcement: to reinforce its local presence in what it calls an emerging market for waste-to-energy.

Why this matters here

Waste-to-energy in the Philippines does not lack technology suppliers. What projects lack is the connective work between a proven technology and a site that can host it: waste characterisation, permitting, grid or offtake arrangements, host agreements with local government, and the operating capability to keep a plant available for decades.

A technology provider working with a local partner that does feasibility, owner’s engineering and long-term operations closes that gap. The client is not left holding the interface between an overseas supplier and a local reality.

Ten years of work behind it

This is not a first meeting. In 2020 our engineers witnessed the factory acceptance test of the 40 MWe alternator for the Belgrade waste-to-energy plant. In 2026 they were on site at the Songkhla plant in southern Thailand, photographed above.

What it does not change

A technology partnership does not remove the fundamentals of a waste project. Feedstock still has to be secured and characterised. Host commitments still have to be real and durable. Permitting still follows its own sequence, and the case for recovering energy from waste still has to be made site by site. What changes is that a client weighing a thermal treatment route in the Philippines now has a path from technology selection to an operating plant, with one local party accountable across it.
