REURASIA Invited to the ASEAN Circular Economy Showcase in Makati

The DENR Environmental Management Bureau has invited REURASIA to present at the Circular Economy Showcase of the ASEAN Regional Dialogue on Circular Economy, 22 to 23 September 2026, New World Makati Hotel.

REURASIA has received an invitation from the Department of Environment and Natural Resources, Environmental Management Bureau, to join the Circular Economy Showcase at the ASEAN Regional Dialogue on Circular Economy.

The two-day event takes place on 22 and 23 September 2026 at the New World Makati Hotel. The invitation names REURASIA Chief Executive Officer Maxime Droit among the green innovators asked to present circular economy programmes and projects.

A regional forum on implementation

The dialogue is organised by the DENR with the ASEAN Centre for Sustainable Development Studies and Dialogue and development partners under the International Climate Initiative, as part of the Philippines' 2026 ASEAN chairship under the theme "Navigating Our Future, Together". It builds on the ASEAN Framework for Circular Economy adopted in 2021.

According to the concept note, the region's growth has increased resource use and waste, particularly plastics, packaging and electronic waste. Member states have begun using instruments such as Extended Producer Responsibility, but progress is uneven because of gaps in regulation, capacity, finance, markets and social inclusion.

Two days: policy, then finance and scale

The first day covers circular economy policy, governance and local action: ASEAN priorities, national implementation, the role of local governments, and the policy tools that move programmes from plans to practice. The second day turns to enablers: Extended Producer Responsibility, investment and market mechanisms, support for small enterprises, the role of informal waste workers, behaviour change, circular business models and regional cooperation.

Organisers expect the dialogue to produce a summary report, a matrix of implementation challenges and good practices, draft elements of an ASEAN Circular Economy Action Agenda, and an ASEAN Chair's Summary that feeds the ASEAN Circular Economy Forum in October 2026.

The showcase

Alongside the sessions, the Circular Economy Solutions and Demonstration Area presents approaches from member states, local governments, companies and development partners. The invitation cites waste avoidance and reduction, materials recovery, upcycling, waste diversion and waste-related livelihoods as the kinds of initiative exhibitors may present.

REURASIA's work sits in the last of those categories: turning organic waste into energy and fertiliser. The Biosfair containerised digester at San Pablo City, listed in the Gold Standard Impact Registry, and the lease model behind it are the programmes we expect to present. Details of the exhibit will follow once participation is confirmed.
