Safety Officer

 

Job Brief:

We are looking for an experienced Safety Officer to oversee and ensure compliance with safety, health, and environmental regulations during the operation and maintenance of an 18TPH Biomass Boiler. The Safety Officer will be responsible for implementing and monitoring safety procedures, conducting risk assessments, and ensuring adherence to industry standards and government regulations.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop, implement, and monitor Safety, Health, and Environmental (SHE) policies and procedures in compliance with local regulations.
  • Conduct regular safety inspections, risk assessments, and audits to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Oversee permit-to-work systems, safety protocols, and emergency response plans for the biomass boiler operation.
  • Coordinate and ensure compliance with government entities related to workplace safety, environmental protection, and occupational health.
  • Facilitates and processes renewal and accreditation papers of DOLE, BFAD, DENR, LLDA, BFP and other local or national documentary requirements
  • Provide safety training, toolbox talks, and awareness programs for all personnel.
  • Investigate accidents, incidents, and near-misses, implementing corrective and preventive actions.
  • Ensure proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and adherence to safety procedures.
  • Prepare and submit safety reports and compliance documentation to management and regulatory authorities.
  • Promote a culture of safety awareness and continuous improvement among employees.

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience as safety officer in a biomass, coal or waste to energy power plant project.
  • In-depth understanding of safety regulations (OSHA, local and national safety laws), hazard identification and risk management.
  • Must be Safety Officer 3 based on DOLE requirement.
  • Must be knowledgeable safety reports/DOLE reportsMaintains good documentation and recordkeeping of Safety-related documents and reports (i.e., Near Miss Reports, Behavior Based Audits, inspection reports, audit reports, toolbox meeting attendance, risk assessment reviews, Safe Working Practices (SWP) verification, etc.).
  • Proficiency of MS Office.
  • A certification in safety management or safety engineering (e.g., NEBOSH, OSHA) is highly desirable.
  • A team player with interpersonal abilities.
