Instrument Technician

Job Brief:

We are looking for an Instrument Technician to ensure that the equipment is working properly, safely, and efficiently of an 18TPH Biomass Boiler. The Instrument Technician will be responsible for testing, calibrating, installing, repairing, and inspecting manufacturing equipment and monitoring devices to ensure continuous and safe plant operations.

Responsibilities:

  • Installation and Commissioning:
    • Installing new instruments, sensors, and control devices in industrial processes.
    • Ensuring correct calibration and configuration of instruments and control systems.
    • Setting up wiring, piping, and connecting instrumentation equipment according to specifications.
  • Maintenance and Troubleshooting:
    • Performing routine maintenance and inspections on instruments and control systems to ensure they are functioning properly.
    • Troubleshooting and diagnosing faults or malfunctions in instruments and control systems.
    • Repairing or replacing faulty components and recalibrating systems as necessary.
  • Calibration and Testing:
    • Calibrating instruments and equipment to ensure they are providing accurate readings.
    • Conducting tests to check the performance and efficiency of control systems.
    • Ensuring compliance with regulatory and safety standards by performing precise and accurate calibrations.
  • Documentation and Reporting:
    • Keeping accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, and calibrations.
    • Creating reports for plant managers and engineers on the condition of instrumentation systems and any issues identified.
    • Updating and maintaining manuals, schematics, and drawings for the plant’s instrumentation systems.
  • System Monitoring and Optimization:
    • Continuously monitoring the performance of instruments and control systems during plant operations.
    • Optimizing the efficiency and reliability of control systems by suggesting or implementing improvements.
  • Safety and Compliance:
    • Ensuring that instrumentation equipment complies with safety regulations and industry standards (e.g., ANSI, ISO, or IEC).
    • Working closely with other technical teams to implement safety protocols, hazard analysis, and risk assessments.
    • Ensuring that instruments are functioning safely within the plant’s operational limits.
  • Upgrades and Modifications:
    • Assisting with system upgrades, improvements, or modifications, including new technologies and control methods.
    • Ensuring that upgrades or changes comply with industry standards and regulations.
  • Participate in safety training, toolbox talks, and emergency response drills.

Participate in safety drills, training, and continuous improvement programs related to electrical safety and efficiency.

Qualifications:

  • TESDA NC II or III Certification in Instrumentation Technician, and Electrical Installation and Maintenance is required.
  • At least 2-3 years of hands-on experience as an Instrument Technician in power plants, biomass, industrial facilities, or manufacturing plants.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills in identifying and fixing issues with instrumentation systems, PLCs, sensors, and control loops.
  • Knowledge of PLC (Programmable Logic Controllers), SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition), and other industrial control systems used in automation.
  • Familiarity with system diagnostics, monitoring software, and data collection tools used in plant operations.
  • Familiarity with VFD (Variable Frequency Drive) configuration
  • Physically fit and willing to work in shifts, emergency call-outs, and scheduled plant shutdowns.
